The Rector, Revd Canon Dr John Thewlis will retire in summer 2017, following which he will move to Herefordshire. He has been with us since 2001, and this will be a big wrench for us all. His last Sunday in Carshalton will be 16 July 2017.
The process for filling a vacancy is described in this Diocesan document.
It is offered free of charge, with free delivery within the parish.

Sutton Peace Symposium and Sutton Ahmadiyya Community invite Christians to join a Sutton High Street communities solidarity Peace March titled "United against Extremism" in the wake of the terror attacks in London. It will take place on Saturday 1st July (a change of date) from 10.45 am to 12 noon. Participants will gather outside ASDA at 10:45am, and set off at 11 am towards Trinity Square outside Waterstones, where the half hour proceedings start with one minute silence.
Residents in The Wrythe have decided to fund a new WW1 memorial cross, to be erected on Wrythe Green itself. The cross itself should be in place shortly, and on Saturday 15 July it will have its commemorative unveiling. The ceremony will start promptly at 11:00am, and will be led by our Rector, in what will be Canon Thewlis's last public service in the Parish. It would be, therefore, doubly fitting if as many members of the congregation as possible are able to join the ceremony to unveil the new WW1 memorial cross and pay tribute to the residents of the Wrythe who fell during World War One. If you do plan to attend, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the Ceremony is due to start.
Following the ceremony, which is not expected to last more than an hour, there will be an afternoon of community activities on the Wrythe Recreation Ground, and in Carshalton High School for Girls and Carshalton Athletic Football Club to remember the Men of the Wrythe.
We are sorry that our heating system has failed. We are pressing for it to be repaired as soon as possible, but in the meantime we are unable to heat the building. The old unit has now been removed, as shown in this photo.
The church council has been told that we have now been given enough money to buy an extra solo trumpet stop for the organ. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to the cost. The organ builder is now designing the modification, and the pipes are in stock.

Carshalton is part of the Deanery of Sutton, which corresponds roughly to the geographical area of the Borough of Sutton. Every few months there is a meeting of members of the Anglican churches in the Deanery at the Deanery Synod, at which matters of general interest are discussed and representatives on the Diocesan and General Synods are elected. Minutes of the May 2017 Synod meeting are here (82 kB).
