The bells were not rung for a while due to contractors working in the tower, but normal ringing resumed on at 10am on Easter Sunday 2017.
We apologise that the church is cold at the moment, because our heating system has failed. Unfortunately the faulty parts are in an inaccessible position. We are pressing for it to be repaired as soon as possible, but in the meantime we are unable to heat the building.

The Rector, Revd Canon Dr John Thewlis, has announced that he intends to retire in summer 2017, following which he will move to Herefordshire. He has been with us since 2001, and this will be a big wrench for us all. His last Sunday in Carshalton will be 16 July 2017.
The church council has been told that we have now been given enough money to buy an extra solo trumpet stop for the organ. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to the cost. The organ builder is now designing the modification, and the pipes are in stock.
Carshalton is part of the Deanery of Sutton, which corresponds roughly to the geographical area of the Borough of Sutton. Every few months there is a meeting of members of the Anglican churches in the Deanery at the Deanery Synod, at which matters of general interest are discussed and representatives on the Diocesan and General Synods are elected. Minutes of the February 2017 Synod meeting are here (77 kB).
